Sheets, rolls or hang tags? Choosing a scented label format

The same scent can arrive as a sticker sheet, a roll for your labelling machine or a tag on a string. Here is how to choose by use, quantity and packing line.

Most scented label projects start with an idea ("we want people to smell our product") and only later reach the question of format. Choosing the format early saves a round of samples.

Sticker sheets and strips

Best when people take the sticker with them: classroom rewards, books, toy packs, fan merchandise, event giveaways. Several scents can share one sheet, which makes a set feel like a collection. Retail packing can be added.

Rolls

Best when the label goes onto a product or package in volume. Rolls run on labelling machines or hand dispensers, so a coffee roaster, candle maker or cosmetics brand can add a "try me" scent point without changing the packing line. Tell us the core size (76 mm or 25 mm), the winding direction and the maximum roll diameter of your machine.

Hang tags

Best for bottles and garments. A scented hang tag carries the product information and the fragrance on a string, with no adhesive touching the product. Perfume, aroma oil and home-fragrance brands use them so shoppers can smell the bottle without opening it.

Stickers for skin, nails and fabric

Tattoo, nail and garment stickers are products in their own right. They need a gentler adhesive and often clear film, so they are specified separately from packaging labels.

A quick rule

  • Giveaway or collectible → sheets or strips
  • On a package, in volume → rolls
  • On a bottle or garment → hang tags
